Found some time to finish a bowl that I had rough turned from green wood about 2 years ago. It's maple with just a little bit of spalting. It's 13 1/4" in dia. and 2 3/4 " high. Gloria and I both think this is our favorite bowl. I have never done a design quite like this before. We really like it and I think it is just a gorgerous piece of wood. Finished with Watco Danish Oil, buffed with a wool sock on the lathe. Not sure what the price will be...if we sell it.
I have two more blanks form this same wood, but not in a bowl shape. They will have to wait until spring or summer.

Video from our last demo
The Hiawatha Woodturning Club meet yesterday (10/14/2017). Our demonstrator was Steve Promo. Steve did a demon on his workflow for creating a set of 12 spindles for a stair railing. Steve went over his blank prep procedures and then turned a spindle for us, demonstrating the making of coves and beads. A video of the demonstration can be found by using the following link.

Art Prize Entry
Our own Jim Rutledge had one of his turnings accepted for Art Prize in Grand Rapids, MI.
I was at Art Prize the last week of the event and took a few shots of Jim's piece. I think it's another outstanding bit of art by Jim.
